Abstract

DO.06.03

Diagnosis of presbyopia via optical coherence tomography (OCT)

Kunert K.
Klinik für Augenheilkunde, HELIOS Klinikum Erfurt

Diagnostic methods to characterize presbyopia have been improved over the past years. Motivated by new concepts of therapy, like fs- laser-technique, more complex models to simulate accommodation are needed. The presentation will focus on OCT-data of the anterior segment during accommodation. The OCT allows non-contact cross-sectional imaging of the entire anterior segment in vivo. To complete data-sets, patients were investigated using the AC-Master, IOL-Master and a wavefront analyser (WASCA) having attached a new dynamic stimulation aberrometry system (DSA), which allows binocular stimulation.
The obtained geometrical data provide consistent data-sets of an individual eye for functional analysis. Potentials as well as limits of the procedure will be discussed. These new diagnostic tools allow us to better assess accommodation and may be helpful in planning future therapies.
