Objective: to study visual acuity after congenital cataract phacoaspiration and primary IOL implantation of infants (1m\o - 2y\o).
Methods: Before operation all children were almost blind mainly at “atypical” and complete cataract forms in that cases infants as light perception (direct and indirect pupil light reaction). In cases of zonular cataract VA was determined as poor “follow reaction”. After operation all infants were examined by Teller acuity cards.
Results: They were broken-down on months groups, UCVA in there groups were: 0 - 3 m\o - 0,08, 4 - 6 m\o - 0,06, 7 - 9 m\o - 0,18, 10 - 12 m\o - 0,19, 13 – 18 m\o - 0,18, 19 - 24 m\o - 0,22. A maximum UCVA was in cases of binocular cataracts (complete forms) and a lowest – in monocular cataracts (“atypical” forms).
Conclusions: Obtained positive anatomical and functional results indicated about VA restoration possibility due to primary intraocular correction in infants with congenital cataracts.
