Objective: To evaluate visual acuity outcome, contrast sensitivity and functional results after implantation of Multifocal diffractive IOL TECNIS tm ZM900 in one eye and Multifocal refractive IOL Rezoom in other eye of the same patient.
Methods: A prospective case study evaluated post-operative refraction, uncorrected(UCVA) and best corrected (BCVA) distance, intermediate and near visual acuity and contrast sensitivity of 40 eyes of 20 patients, 3 months after implantation.
The personal satisfaction, the quality of vision, glare, halos the need to wear glasses was assessed with a validated questionnaire.
Results: The mean UCVA for distance was bilaterally 0,84, the BCVA for distance 0,89,the mean visual acuity for intermediate was 0,68 ,for near. 0,78.Only 15% needed glasses temporally. All patients were satisfied with the results. 30 %experienced halos, but only 10% found them disturbing, 5%complained about glare
Conclusions: Combined implantation of diffractive Tecnis and refractive Rezoom produces excellent visual acuity at distance intermediate and near and high independence of the glasses. And offering 100% patient satisfaction. Having access to both lenses in one combined procedure gives the surgeon the possibility of satisfying a larger share of patients.
